Refund & Cancellation Policy
How to cancel your Account Trail subscription, what happens when you do, and when we refund.
Last updated
In short
- Cancel yourself at any time, from Settings → Billing. No email required.
- You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. We never cut a paid period short.
- 14-day money-back guarantee on a first subscription - full refund, no reason needed.
- Your data is never deleted because you cancelled or downgraded.
1. Cancelling
Go to Settings → Billing and choose to cancel. It takes effect immediately as an instruction, and your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period - the time you have already paid for. Nothing further is charged.
Until that date you can resume the subscription from the same screen and carry on uninterrupted. After it, your account moves to the Free plan.
If you cannot reach the billing screen, write to [email protected] from your account's email address and we will cancel it for you.
2. What happens to your data
Nothing is deleted. Moving to Free does not remove businesses, invoices, bills, expenses or items. Your records stay in your account and stay readable.
What changes is what you can add. The Free plan allows one business; if you have more than one you keep and can still switch between all of them, but you cannot create another until you are on Pro again. Other Pro-only features stop being available for new work.
Deleting your account is a separate action and is permanent - see the Terms of Service.
3. 14-day money-back guarantee
If you are not satisfied, ask within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. You do not need to give a reason.
The guarantee applies to a first subscription to Account Trail. It does not apply to renewals - see below.
4. Renewals
Subscriptions renew automatically. We send a reminder before an annual renewal so it is never a surprise.
After the 14-day window, payments for a period already begun are generally non-refundable - you keep access for the full period you paid for. That said, we would rather resolve a genuine problem than hold a payment on principle: if you were charged for a renewal you did not intend and have not meaningfully used the period, contact us and we will normally refund it. Write to [email protected].
5. Changing plan or billing interval
Upgrades take effect immediately - from monthly to annual, or from Free to Pro. You are charged pro rata for the remainder of the current period, and the credit for time already paid for is applied to that charge.
Downgrades wait. Switching from annual to monthly, or reducing your plan, takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You are charged nothing at the time of the change and you keep the higher plan until your existing period runs out. We do this rather than refunding the difference so that no part of what you paid goes missing in the transition.
6. How refunds are paid
Paddle.com Market Ltd is our merchant of record: it took the original payment, so it also issues the refund. Refunds go back to the original payment method - we cannot send one anywhere else.
- We approve refund requests within 2 business days.
- Once approved, funds typically reach your account within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.
- A credit note is issued for every refund - a separate document from the original invoice. Both are available in Settings → Billing.
- Where tax was charged, it is refunded proportionally with the rest.
7. Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, our merchant of record retries it over several days and we email you. Pro features may be suspended while a payment is outstanding. Your data is not deleted, and your account is not closed, because of a failed payment. Update your card in Settings → Billing to restore access.
8. Exceptions
We may decline a refund where:
- the request falls outside the 14-day guarantee and section 4 does not apply;
- the account breached the Terms of Service and was suspended or terminated for it;
- we have reasonable grounds to believe the request is fraudulent or is a repeated pattern of subscribing and reclaiming.
Statutory rights come first. If the law where you live gives you a stronger right to cancel or to a refund - such as a consumer right of withdrawal - that right applies regardless of anything on this page.
9. How to request a refund
Email [email protected] from the address on your account, telling us which payment you mean. The invoice number from Settings → Billing is the fastest way to identify it. You will get an answer within 2 business days.
Anything else: [email protected].
